Violinist Nguyen Cong Thang
Mr. Nguyen Cong Thang graduated with a Masters degree in Violin performance at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, under professor Ngo Van Thanh’s studio. In 1990, he won first place for the violin category at the “National Autumn Music” competition, and three years later, at the same competition, he won the “best performance of Vietnamese repertoire” for the Chamber Music category.
He went on to further his studies with professor Michael Ma and Hong Kong Music Academy afterwards, and in 2003, he became professor of Violin at the College of music Mahidol University in Thailand, as well as the 2nd violin section chair for Thailand symphony orchestra.
As a professor, Mr. Nguyen has taught generations of students, successfully hosting annual Violin festivals and performances for students at the Mahidol University and Thailand Cultural Center. He has also established his performing career through various solo concerts at the Vietnam National Academy of Music’s concert Hall and the Hanoi Opera House, with the Hong Kong Music Academy orchestra in Austra, Spain, France, Italy, UK, Thailand…
Violinist Nguyen Cong Thang currently serves as the vice-chair of the Strings Department, at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
