The 5th annual Rising Star International Arts Festival & Competition Rules & Regulations

I – Competition organizing regulations

  1. Applicants cannot receive royalties for publications at the competition, such as video, prints and other images provided by the organizing committee during and after the competition.
  2. RSIAF organizing committee has all rights to recording, taking and using pictures of applicants at the competition. 
  3. Winners are required to perform (wage-less) at events organized by RSIAF.
  4. The board of jury has the right to listen to parts or the entire performance for each applicant.
  5. Jury members have the right to cut short a performance if it surpasses the “performance duration limit” for each specific class.
  6. Applicants are required to perform pieces from the repertoire list that they submitted in the “video submission link” form, in which they are not allowed to change. 
  7. All works must be performed from memory.
  8. Perform only 1 piece for the preliminary round (which will be recorded and sent to the competition in online format)
  9. The results for each round will be announced by the board of jury and will not be re-access under any circumstances.
  10. The board of jury may announce co-winners for prizes and propose other unofficial awards (TBA).
  11. If an applicant does not pass the preliminary round, the organizing committee will refund his/her final round application fee. Otherwise, application fees are non-refundable.
  12. Preliminary round, each applicant may only perform 1 piece. Final round, each applicant must follow the rules and requirements (duration and repertoire) for his/her own specific class.

II – Preliminary round video

A valid performance video must meet the following requirements:

  1. No stopping, pausing or any other interruptions during the performance.
  2. No video editing, including video length reduction. Video must reflect the veracity of the performance. 
  3. An appropriate and satisfactory camera frame should include the applicant’s entire body (with clear view of face, hands) and instrument. For Piano, the entire keyboard must be visible. For Strings, the entire instrument must be visible. 
  4. Applicant must introduce him/herself at the beginning of the video – Full name, instrument, class and contest type
  5. Check the video’s content before submitting, ensuring high quality audio and image.

Keyboards’ quality

Under the special circumstances that we are still fighting against the Covid pandemic, the organizing committee understands that not all applicants have access to great quality recording devices and instruments. The juries will not be judging you based on these criterias. 

Additionally, to achieve the best results, applicants should consider performing at a professional recording studio.
